Tokugi

Tokugi are special techniques that can only be used by bushi. They function as highly specialized combat manoeuvers (such as Feint and Disarm) and represent the ultimate result of years of training. Unlike Kata, they are not stances but specific gestures, whose power rivalizes with the intricate design of Kihos. Performing a Tokugi is similar to performing a standard attack manoeuver (as a Complex Action), and can be activated either by Raising a number of times equal to the Tokugi’s Mastery Level, or by spending a Void Point.

It is possible to combine two or more Tokugi in a single strike, although doing so means taking great risks : one must make a number of Raises equal to the total number of Raises needed to perform all declared Tokugi separately. Furthermore, spending a Void Point on such a roll only negates the required Raises for a single Tokugi.

Purchasing Tokugi costs a number of Experience Points equal to the Tokugi’s Mastery Level. A bushi may only learn a Tokugi if their relevant Ring is equal to or higher than the listed Mastery Level. Additionally, a Tokugi may only be used with specific weapon types, and often needs a minimal number of skill ranks with said weapons to be performed.

A Bushi may not know more than one Tokugi per level. However, Kenshi Schools are an exception to this rule.

Only Tokugi with the Iaijutsu Skill may be used as part of the Strike phase of a Iaijutsu dueling, and only if the minimal number of Iaijutsu skill ranks is achieved. Tokugi used this way need to be declared during the Assessment part of the duel.

Air Tokugi

Breath of the South Wind

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Kyujutsu 3, Ninjutsu 3, Spears 3
  • Effect: Arrows, spears and projectiles travel further when buoyed by favorable winds. When you use this Tokugi, your effective range is doubled for this attack only.

Cut the Distance

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Any 3
  • Effect: By cutting the emptiness, one can reach far away. When you use this Tokugi, you may attack a target in 50' range with a melee attack, cutting them with air pressure from the weapon strike.

World Becomes Air

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 3, Kyujutsu 3, Spears 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: With the swiftness of Air, enemies are cut down in the blink of an eye. When you use this Tokugi, you may use your Air instead of your Strength for Damage Rolls.

Hidden Wind Gust

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Polearms 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: Even when unmovable and seemingly petrified, the Bushi can perform devastating hits. You may use this Tokugi to attack (as a Complex Action, or as a Simple Action if you may make attacks as Simple Actions) in the Defense Stance, bypassing the normal restrictions for doing so. If you succeed, the attack resolves without any additional effect, and you remain in the Defense Stance.

Flutter of Wings

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Ninjutsu 3, Polearms 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: The swiftness of Air allows to arm yourself and strike in the briefest of moments. You may perform this Tokugi if you didn't draw your weapon, but it is in arms' reach. As part of this Tokugi, you immediately draw your weapon - even if you normally could not do so. You add +1k0 to the Attack Roll.

Read the Winter Breeze

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 3
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Kyujutsu 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: Air is the element of spiritual awareness and reveals the secrets of one's opponents. Before striking with this Tokugi, you immediately become aware of your opponent's Physical Traits, as well as Advantages and Disadvantages that would effect his swordmanship. If using this Tokugi during Iaijutsu dueling, you gain a +10 bonus on your Iaijutsu (Assessment) Roll.

Butterfly Slicing Dance

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 4
  • Weapon Types: Knives 5, Kenjutsu 5, Ninjutsu 5, War Fans 5
  • Effect: A butterfly’s wings flutter lightly, yet strike with astonishing speed. If you successfully strike an opponent with this Tokugi, you may make an additional attack as a Free Action immediately afterwards, but until the next Reaction Stage, you may not keep the highest damage dice on any attacks.

Vow of Silence

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 4
  • Weapon Types: Knives 5, Kenjutsu 5, Polearms 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: Wind is the element of speech, and can rob it if needed. If you successfully strike an opponent with this Tokugi, that opponent cannot speak or cast spells for a number of rounds equal to your Air Ring.

Swallowtail Cut

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 4
  • Weapon Types: Knives 5, Kenjutsu 5, Kyujutsu 5, Ninjutsu 5 Polearms 5
  • Effect: The swiftness of Air infuses its wielder with supernatural speed and reflexes. At the beginning of a Combat Round, you may declare a use of this Tokugi and immediately act, as if you are taking your Turn.

Shooting Stardust

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 4
  • Weapon Types: Kyujutsu 5, Ninjutsu 5, Spears 5
  • Effect: Your projectiles fall upon your enemies, as summer rain brought by gentle winds. You may only use this Tokugi with a ranged attack. When you perform this Tokugi, your attack strikes all opponents in your weapon's range. You roll your Attack and Damage roll only once, but only apply damage against individuals you managed to hit.

Calm Heart of the Storm

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 5
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 7, Jiujutsu 7, Knives 7, Spears 7, Staves 7
  • Effect: In the heart of the storm, Kaze-no-Kami's cold breath protects and punishes. If you didn't act this turn, when you are targeted by an attack, you may use this Tokugi. If the result of the Attack Roll is higher than the opponent's Attack Roll, the opponent's attack is negated, and you resolve your attack against this opponent. You lose a Complex Action (or Simple Action, if you can attack as Simple Actions) immediately afterwards.

Shoot the Moon, Dragon of Air

  • Ring/Mastery: Air 5
  • Weapon Types: Kyujutsu 7, Ninjutsu 7, Spears 7
  • Effect: The ultimate gift of Air is a perfect shot, flawlessly piercing the heart. You may only use this Tokugi with a ranged attack, against an individual whom you know to possess a heart, or organ possessing a similar function. You ignore all obstacles between you and your target. If you successfully touch your opponent with this Tokugi, you ignore all Damage Reduction from the target, and all Damage Dice you choose to keep explode. The target falls Prone and is Stunned.

Earth Tokugi

Turn Away the Blade

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Staves 3, Spears 3, Polearms 3
  • Effect: The watchful eyes of the Earth allow to defend one's allies from the closest threats. Immediately after performing this Tokugi, you may perform the Guard manoeuver as a Free Action.

World Becomes Earth

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 3, Kenjutsu 3, Jiujutsu 3
  • Effect: Earth's sheer resilience allows to overpower even the hardest of defenses. When you use this Tokugi, you may use your Earth instead of your Strength for Damage Rolls.

The Stone Unmoved

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 3, Heavy Weapons 3, Kyujutsu 3, Jiujutsu 3, Polearms 3
  • Effect: Earth is anything but swift, and can bestow its sluggish nature with a touch. When you successfully strike an opponent with this Tokugi, reduce his Water Ring by your Earth Ring (to a minimum of one) for the purpose of determining how far they can move only, until the end of the skirmish.

Tears from a Stone

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 3, Jiujutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3
  • Effect: This simple Tokugi, favored by the Crab, is indispensable for fighting Oni and powerful Lost. When performing this Tokugi, your weapon is treated as Jade for the purpose of overcoming invulnerability.

Earthly Abandon

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 3, Heavy Weapons 3, Jiujutsu 3, Polearms 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: Earth is both the element of endurance and weariness. If this Tokugi is successfully performed, its target immediately becomes Fatigued.

Dance of Ivy

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 3
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 3, Jiujutsu 3, Polearms 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: A few precise gestures mimic the entangling properties of brambles and thorns. When successfully performing this Tokugi, your opponent is immediately Entangled.

The Wolf's Cruelty

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 4
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 5, Jiujutsu 5, Polearms 5
  • Effect: A Bushi who masters the rhythm of the Earth can disrupt the flow of life from within his opponents. When you use this Tokugi, both traits associated with the opponent's Earth Ring are reduced by one Rank until the end of the skirmish. This effect does not stack with itself or with other effects that reduce the opponent's Earth.

Hidden Earth Assault

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 4
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 5, Kenjutsu 5, Polearms 5, War Fans 5
  • Effect: Even when unmovable and seemingly petrified, the Bushi can perform devastating hits. You may use this Tokugi to attack (as a Complex Action) in the Full Defense Stance, bypassing the normal restrictions for doing so. If you succeed, the attack resolves without any additional effect, and you remain in the Full Defense Stance.

A Worm Would Turn

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 4
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 5, Jiujutsu 5
  • Effect: Pain becomes power with proper mastery of the self, turning desperate charges into devastating assaults. When you perform this Tokugi, you ignore all Wound Penalties, even from the Down and Out Wound Ranks, including action penalties from these ranks. Furthermore, you add half your Wound Penalties to your Damage Roll.

Earthen Shout

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 4
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 5, Jiujutsu 5, Polearms 5
  • Effect: A powerful shockwave, conducted by the Earth, shatters buildings and makes enemies kneel. When you perform this Tokugi, you strike all enemies at close range, dealing them normal weapon damage and knocking them Prone. All unattended objects also take full damage from this attack.

Fall of the Celestial Stone

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 5
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 7, Kenjutsu 7
  • Effect: There is no need for precious metals when one’s soul is imbued with the purity of the Sun's tears. When you perform this Tokugi, your weapons are treated as Jade and Crystal for the purpose of Invulnerability, and you gain a bonus of +2k1 to your Damage Roll if the target is Tainted or under the influence of the Lying Darkness. Furthermore, if you successfully strike your target, for a number of rounds equal to your Earth Ring, all attacks against this target are treated as Jade and Crystal as well.

Earth Dragon's Dignity

  • Ring/Mastery: Earth 5
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 7, Heavy Weapons 7, Polearms 7
  • Effect: One of the greatest lesson of Earth Tokujutsu is that one's flesh must become as steel for body and weapon to be one. When you perform this Tokugi, until the next Reaction Step, you gain Reduction equal to half the damage inflicted by this attack, and you become immune to fatigue, the effect of any poisons and diseases, and suffer no Wound Penalties.

Fire Tokugi

Spinning Blade Assault

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Any 3
  • Effect: With a swift movement, the warrior strikes down those around her, as though spinning at a blinking speed. This Tokugi can only be used with melee weapons. When you perform this Tokugi, your attack strikes all opponents at melee range. You roll your Attack and Damage roll only once, but only apply damage against individuals you managed to hit.

Flameshadow Blade

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Ninjutsu 3, Polearms 3
  • Effect: With a swift movement, the warrior strikes down those around her, as though spinning at a blinking speed. This Tokugi is treated as the Feint manoeuver for the purpose of abilities affecting feinting. If you successfully hit an opponent with this Tokugi, in addition to the normal effects of a Feint, the target takes additional damage equal to your Fire Ring and is Dazed for a turn.

Shattering Roar

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 3, Kenjutsu 3, Ninjutsu 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: The element of Fire allows to shatter weapons with a single blow. This Tokugi is treated as the Disarm manoeuver for the purpose of abilities affecting disarming. If you successfully hit an opponent with this Tokugi, instead of disarming the opponent, the target's weapon gains the Broken condition. Nemuranai are immune to this effect.

World Becomes Fire

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Ninjutsu 3
  • Effect: The Bushi draws upon the strength of inner fire to consume their enemies. When you use this Tokugi, you may use your Fire instead of your Strength for Damage Rolls.

Red Demon's Roar

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Ninjutsu 3
  • Effect: This brutal but simple technique capitalizes on the opponent's openings, aggravating their wounds with brutal ferocity. When you use this Tokugi, whenever a Damage dice explodes, add your Fire Ring to the damage dealt.

Screaming Edge

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 3
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Ninjutsu 3, Spears 3
  • Effect: Fire is fierce yet formless, and one would be hard-pressed to find weak points in its relentless advance. When you use this Tokugi, if you are in the Full Attack Stance, you negate all penalties from the Full Attack Stance if you successfully strike your opponent this turn.

Oni's Strike

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 4
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons, Kenjutsu 5, Knives 5, Ninjutsu 5
  • Effect: A forbidden technique, this powerful Tokugi leaves behind painful, cursed wounds. When you perform this Tokugi, the opponent's wounds resist all magical and nonmagical healing, and the TN to heal those wounds, through Medicine or magic, is increased by twice your Fire Ring.

Light Shines upon Steel

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 4
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 5, Knives 5, Spears 5
  • Effect: A keen weapon is able to grasp a fragment of the Sun's light. When you perform this Tokugi, your opponent is Blinded during their next turn. Creatures vulnerable to light, such as scions of the Lying Darkness, take an additional 2k2 Damage from this Tokugi.

Scorched by Honor

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 4
  • Weapon Types: Any 5
  • Effect: Honor burns bright, and its inner fire fuels the strongest strikes. You may only perform this Tokugi with Samurai weapons. When you perform this Tokugi, you add +Xk0 to your Damage Rolls, where X is the difference between your Honor and your opponent's. If your Honor is at least three Ranks higher than your opponent's, your opponent is Dazed.

Five Rings Assault

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 4
  • Weapon Types: Any 5
  • Effect: Fire strikes with blinking speed, ending battles before they can truly begin. When you perform this Tokugi, until the next Reaction Stage, you may make attacks (including this attack) as Simple Actions with any weapon for which you possess at least 5 skill ranks. However, if you miss this attack, your turn immediately ends.

Dragon's Four Fangs

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 5
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 7, Knives 7, Jiujutsu 7, War Fans 7
  • Effect: Fire strikes with blinking speed, ending battles before they can truly begin. This Tokugi is treated as the Extra Attack manoeuver for the purpose of abilities affecting extra attacks. This Tokugi may only performed if you wield two weapons, and have already struck your opponent twice this turn (for example, by attacking as a Simple Action and performing the Extra Attack manoeuver) with different weapons. Immediately after this attack resolves, if successful, you may make an additional attack with your other weapon, ignoring the normal limitations of Extra Attacking.

Pyre of the Phoenix

  • Ring/Mastery: Fire 5
  • Weapon Types: Heavy Weapons 7, Kenjutsu 7, Knives 7, Ninjutsu 7
  • Effect: A forbidden and suicidal assault, this death-or-glory attack is said to destroy its user's body as it is performed. When you successfully perform this Tokugi, you immediately take damage equal to four times your Earth Ring and become Fatigued. You keep an additional number of damage dice on that attack equal to the number of full Wound Ranks you possess.

Water Tokugi

Solemn Torrent

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 3
  • Weapon Types: Any 3
  • Effect: A single heavy strike can crush any defenses better than a myriad of small slices. You may only perform this Tokugi with Large weapons. When performing this Tokugi, if you can attack as a Simple Action but elect to perform a Complex Action, your Damage Roll is doubled. If you perform an Extra Attack Manoeuver, the effect of the manoeuver is negated, but your Damage Roll is doubled. If you do both, your Damage Roll is tripled instead.

Stone-Shattering Wave

  • Ring/Mastery : Water 3
  • Weapon Types : Heavy Weapons 3, Staves 3, Kenjutsu 3
  • Effect: Water finds strength in persistance and wears down all obstacles. When you perform this Tokugi, you inflict full damage on all inanimate objects, and ignore a number of Reduction on living targets equal to your Water Ring for each damage dice you keep on this attack.

Currents of Steel

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 3
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 3, Heavy Weapons 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: The Bushi calls upon torrents of water to overwhelm their opponent. When you use this Tokugi, you may use your Water instead of your Agility for Attack Rolls.

Spin the Waterwheel

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Heavy Weapons 3, Staves 3, War Fans 3
  • Effect: The element of Water allows to strengthen one's strikes and throw enemies away. When you use this Tokugi, your opponent is knocked back a number of feet equal to five times your Water Ring.

Strike as the Torrent

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Heavy Weapons 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: Mimicking the strength of the ocean, the bushi strikes down any foe. This Tokugi is treated as the Knockdown manoeuver for the purpose of abilities affecting it. If you successfully hit an opponent with this Tokugi, you knock them Prone - regardless of their size or strength. Additionnally, the target is Dazed by the strength of the blow.

Waltz among the Waves

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 3
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 3, Jiujutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Polearms 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: Perceiving the flow of battle is an essential part of Water Tokujutsu. When this Tokugi is activated, until the next Reaction Stage, you cannot be surprised, negate all penalties from being ambushed, and ignore all effects meant to deceive you, including enemy Feints and illusions.

Flowing Blood Cut

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 4
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 5, Knives 5, Ninjutsu 5
  • Effect: Deemed unclean by most Tokujutsu practicioners, this technique forces blood to exit a wounded person's body, weakening them until their swift death. When you perform this Tokugi, the opponent takes damage each turn equal to your Water Ring, until all wounds dealt by this Tokugi are healed. Multiple applications of this technique do not stack.

Mirror's Edge

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 4
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 5, Kenjutsu 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: A blade of keen water can cast aside even powerful spells. If you didn't act this turn, when you are targeted by a spell, you may use this Tokugi. If the result of the Attack Roll is higher than the opponent's Spellcasting Roll - regardless of whether you can actually hit the spell's user - the spell is immediately negated. You lose a Complex Action (or Simple Action, if you can attack as Simple Actions) immediately afterwards.

Awe of the Breakers

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 4
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 5, Heavy Weapons 5, Polearms 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: Mimicking the impact of raging waves, the Bushi freezes their enemy with a single blow. If this Tokugi is successful, the target is Stunned. A single individual can only be Stunned this way once per skirmish.

Overwhelming Ocean

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 4
  • Weapon Types: Any 5
  • Effect: The speed of Water infuses your gestures and allows you to perform a sudden dash. As part of performing this Tokugi, you may move a number of feet equal to ten times your Water Rank towards your enemy. The resulting energy adds +1k0 to the Damage Roll.

Frozen Winter Moon

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 5
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 7, Ninjutsu 7, Staves 7
  • Effect: This impressive Tokugi channels the cold, killing intent of the user into their weapon, freezing their target with a powerful strike. When you perform this Tokugi, the opponent becomes Paralyzed for a number of Rounds equal to your Water Ring, minus your opponent's Stamina (for a minimum of one Round).

Ride the Dragon of Blood

  • Ring/Mastery: Water 5
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 7, Heavy Weapons 7, Kenjutsu 7, Knives 7, Jiujutsu 7, Staves 7
  • Effect: This sinister, forbidden technique resembles the cursed arts of the Maho-tsukai, and may in fact be inspired from the Dark Moto's endless hunger. When you perform this Tokugi, you add +2k0 to your Damage Rolls, and you immediately regain Wounds equal to half the number of Wounds inflicted by this Tokugi on your opponent, rounded down. If you kill the opponent, double the amount of recovered Wounds.

Void Tokugi

Strike of No Mind

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: Any 3
  • Effect: Any weapon may serve as a conduct for the great Void, if the mind so desires. You may use this Tokugi with any weapon for which you possess an Emphasis. When you use this Tokugi, you may spend an additional Void Point on the Damage Roll.

Rob from the Void

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Kyujutsu 3
  • Effect: A blade wielded in harmony can disrupt one's bond to the Void. When you use this Tokugi, your opponent immediately loses one Void Point. If they cannot, they take an additional 1k1 damage.

Thoughtless Draw

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 3
  • Effect: Even two simultaneous heartbeats can be distinguished by the melody of the Void. If a Iaijutsu Duel results in a Kharmic Strike while using this Tokugi, your attack resolves before your opponent's.

The Mind Sees True

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 3, Kenjutsu 3, Knives 3, Staves 3
  • Effect: The Void always strikes true, regardless of obstacles and impediments. Your attack with this Tokugi automatically ignores all penalties from concealment, weather conditions, Disadvantages or conditions such as Blindness, and magical or nonmagical obstruction. This does not allow the attack to penetrate Invulnerability, ignore Reduction, or ignore the target's Armor.

Guided by the Empty

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: Any 3
  • Effect: To shatter the limits of the self is to wield one's weapon fearlessly. When you perform Tokugi, until your next Reactions Stage, your Raises are no longer limited in any way (including on this Tokugi's Attack Roll).

World Becomes Nothing

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 3
  • Weapon Types: any 3
  • Effect: The Bushi defeats their enemy with an empty mind and an empty weapon. You may use this Tokugi with any weapon for which you possess an Emphasis. When you use this Tokugi, you may use your Void instead of your Strength for Damage Rolls.

Kharmic Retribution

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 4
  • Weapon Types: Kenjutsu 5, Spears 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: This Tokugi allows its user to transcend the laws of the universe, by striking down an opponent before they could make their own attack. If you didn't act this turn, when you are targeted by a melee attack, you may use this Tokugi. If you are successful, you attack the opponent before their own strike resolves. You lose a Complex Action (or Simple Action, if you can attack as Simple Actions) immediately afterwards.

Ten Realms Slice

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 4
  • Weapon Types: Jiujutsu 5, Kenjutsu 5, Knives 3, Kyujutsu 5, Polearms 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: A blade imbued with the Void can slice through everything, even Kharma. When you strike your opponent with the Tokugi, they immediately gain a rank in the Unlucky Disadvantage for the rest of the day.

Deny the Breath

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 4
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 5, Jiujutsu 5, Kenjutsu 5
  • Effect: This Tokugi prevents others from calling upon their own skills. When you perform this Tokugi and successfully strike your opponent, until your next turn, all Tokugi against you resolve as normal attacks, and neither you nor your opponent can benefit or be hindered by the effects of your opponent's Tokugi.

Strike of All and None

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 4
  • Weapon Types: Iaijutsu 5, Kenjutsu 5, Knives 5, Ninjutsu 5
  • Effect: A talented enough Void Tokujutsu master is able to follow Mirumoto's teachings and strike even when it seems impossible. You may perform this Tokugi in situations where you cannot attack your target - because you are restrained, unable to move, your target is protected, or any other reason. You must be able to make eye contact with your target in order to declare this Tokugi. As a Complex Action, you attack the opponent despite it being impossible, as the Void transmits your killing intent.

One with the Reaper

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 5
  • Weapon Types: Chain Weapons 7, Jiujutsu 7, Kenjutsu 7
  • Effect: Perhaps the most complex and dangerous Tokugi, it allows one to reach a dark moment of enlightenment, then steal the opponent's breath in a single strike. If this strike successfully hits an individual, they must immediately spend a Void Point or make a Void Ring Roll with a TN equal to your Attack Roll. In case of failure, the enemy is immediately killed - or reduced to the Out Wound Rank, at the GM's discretion.

The Silence is Mine

  • Ring/Mastery: Void 5
  • Weapon Types: Any 7, Iaijutsu 7
  • Effect: This strange Tokugi allows oneself to strike in the middle of Time itself. You may declare that Tokugi at any point during a Round in which you didn't act. You immediately take your Turn at that moment, stopping time; however, if this Tokugi actually misses, your turn immediately ends.

The World in Shadows

  • Ring/Mastery : Air 4 and Water 4
  • Weapon Types : Knives 5, Ninjutsu 5, Polearms 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: Air's illusory speed and Water's dark clarity allow to rob the opponent of their sense of sight, attacking them when they are defenseless. If this Tokugi successfully hits your opponent, they are considered to be Blinded for a number of Rounds equal to your Water Ring, for the purpose of attacking you and evading your attacks, and you add your Air Ring to all Damage Rolls against him during that effect.

Storm God's Speed

  • Ring/Mastery : Fire 4 and Water 4
  • Weapon Types : Chain Weapons 5, Knives 5, Kenjutsu 5, Iaijutsu 5, Ninjutsu 5
  • Effect: Swift as fire and relentless as water, lightning strikes down those who dare defy Osano-wo's champions. As part of activating this Tokugi, you may move a number of feet up to ten times your Water Ring plus your Fire Ring. You make a single Attack Roll against all inanimate objects and living targets you touched during your movement, adding +2k0 to Attack and Damage Rolls.

Rising Jade Sun

  • Ring/Mastery : Air 4 and Fire 4
  • Weapon Types : Kenjutsu 5, Staves 5, Spears 5
  • Effect: A blade forged by the sun banishes all lies. When you activate that Tokugi, before resolving it, all illusions and concealment effects created by spells and effects with a level lower than your Air Ring are immediately dispelled. For each such effect dispelled, add +1k0 to your Attack Roll. The target of this Tokugi immediately loses all protective spell effects with a level lower than your Fire Ring. For each such effect dispelled, add +1k0 to your Damage Roll.

Obsidian Moon Fall

  • Ring/Mastery : Earth 4 and Fire 4
  • Weapon Types : Heavy Weapons 5, Staves 5, Polearms 5
  • Effect: This forbidden technique calls upon the shadowed Earth and hellish Fire to overwhelm the enemy with a breaking blow, similar to a meteor fall. This technique strikes all enemies in front of the user. The opponents' armors, if any, immediately gain the Broken condition. The targets' Wound Penalties are increased by two steps for a number of rounds equal to your Earth Ring, and you add +Xk0 to the Damage Roll, where X is your Fire Ring.

Flower Kami's Roar

  • Ring/Mastery : Earth 4 and Water 4
  • Weapon Types : Heavy Weapons 5, Staves 5, Polearms 5
  • Effect: Relentless as Water and pure as Earth, this technique calls upon Nature itself to shatter all barrages. When you activate this Tokugi, you treat your weapon as a Nemuranai for the purpose of ignoring Invulnerability, and ignore all Reduction or damage absorption effect your target may have. You add +3k0 to your Damage Roll. The opponent loses Invulnerability for a number of rounds equal to your Earth Ring, and all Reduction for a number of rounds equal to your Water Ring.

Desert Guardian Stance

  • Ring/Mastery : Earth 4 and Air 4
  • Weapon Types : Knives 5, Kenjutsu 5, Polearms 5, Spears 5, Staves 5
  • Effect: The dance of desertic winds blends Air and Earth in order to create the perfect defense. If you successfully strike an opponent with this Tokugi, your Armor TN against this opponent becomes equal to the result of the Attack Roll for a number of turns equal to your Air Ring. Furthermore, your opponent loses one Simple Action per round for a number of turns equal to your Earth Ring.
